What we have accomplished so far:

Over the past few years student volunteers have planted over 800 trees, electrified the school by installing solar panels, donated laptops, instructed students grades K through 6 on laptop use, and have constructed and installed 30 nesting boxes for the endangered and endemic Golden Swallow.

Communities We Serve:

Currently, we have ongoing projects in El Castillo, a small community in the central region of the Dominican Republic. Nestled in the mountains, El Castillo is a tiny isolated village of approximately 200 people. The current needs of the community are many: there is no electricity or running water, the one room schoolhouse lacks basic supplies, and there is little opportunity for commerce or jobs. Environmental issues are also present, as deforestation due to using wood for fuel has degraded the ecosystem and caused habitat loss for endangered species.

Our future goals:

-Continue to make upgrades to  the school

-Help create sustainable commerce such as bio-bricks to offer economic opportunities to community members, as well as reduce the need for wood, and  mitigate deforestation.

-Include healthcare professionals to assist with basic healthcare and hygiene.

-Provide sustainable electricity to the community.

-Continue to provide nesting spaces for Golden Swallows, creating the opportunity for ecotourism and jobs for community members.
